Failte gu Eilean a Cheo - Welcome to the Misty Isle of Skye.
There is no better way to enjoy the Island other than to spend some time in the great outdoors. Skye is famous for its World class scenery and why not combine some of that outdoor experience with learning a new skill like fly fishing or, if you are already an experienced angler, increase your chances of success with a knowledgeable local guide? To help with your day I can supply all the necessary fishing tackle.
I have been fishing on Skye for over 50 years and enjoy passing on my knowledge and experience of this fascinating sport. In 2013 my most successful client caught an impressive 9 salmon over his two days of guided angling and i have helped many other guests to catch their very first salmon. See my happy clients on the “Gallery” page.
I specialise in offering introductory fly fishing tuition to total novices and guided fishing expeditions to the more experienced angler. Our fishing locations are diverse and can be to loch, stream and river anywhere on the Island. I can tailor your fishing break to your own specific requirements and holiday schedule. Check out my “Tariff” page for my most popular excursions.
As mentioned above and for your convenience there is no need to pack any fly fishing equipment as I supply all necessary tackle for up to four participants and that is at no extra cost of hire. I even have a supply of waterproof wellington/gum boots- just pre advise me of your boot size!
Trout abound in the many lochs of Skye and all are hard fighting and totally wild fish. The trout fishing season is from the 1st April to the 30th September.
Salmon and sea-trout run our streams and rivers right through from early June until the end of the season in mid October.
So whether you are an experienced angler who wishes to maximise your chances of success or a complete beginner who wants to learn fly fishing as a new skill , in either case, why not add a day or half day fishing course or ghillied angling to your holiday here on the Island?
The season can become busy from May onwards so pre booking is recommended.
Trout/ Sea Trout:
9/10 Foot Single handed Fly Rod and line 7/9.
As above except if fishing rivers in spate when a double handed 13 foot rod is recommended.
Remember there is no need to pack fishing equipment for your visit as I supply all necessary tackle at no extra cost.
